No hardtop require
I post some questions about track our car and here are the respond from Track Director Dave Deborde
? I need to know this about the convertible car (Honda S2000).
1. While we are on the track for either PDX or CT is the top suppose to be up or down?
The top should be down/stored. The TT Safety Committee is concerned that a rollover with the top up could result in bows breaking and becoming spears!
2. Also in the rule said "Arm restraints are optional on all cars but recommended on all open cars. At RFR are SCCA mandatory or optional?
Per the rules, arm restraints in PDX and Club Trials open top cars are highly recommended. The reason they are not mandatory is that they don't fit very well with some stock seat belts.
Also other member ask about hardtop?
The Time Trials Advisory Council has discussed this at various times and so far we have accepted any factory rollover protection so long as it is so stated by the manufacturer. Honda does state that in their manual. And yes, we know that most S2000 drivers do not meet the "broom stick test". We do not feel that we should try and prejudge the manufacturer if they do not pose conditions.

if you have a hardtop, the softtop is stored. so hardtop is good to go. if you have a soft top you should have top down, with arm restrains. I have never seen them do a broom stick test. even with super tall Derek in a maita. and I believe Bart ran top up in PDX. I'll have to ask him
CT they may be a bit for strict on the rules, since you are left on your own. But PDX you have an instructor so you won't be taking unnecessary risks.

I did PDX both top up and top down. It's depend on official that day. But from now I will always have top down after read the Committee concerned that a rollover with the top up could result in bows breaking and becoming spears! YIKE!!
That is pretty serious. My helmet won't stop a spear.
