Default Not just another coming to Vegas thread...

Ok, here's the deal. Im still kicking around the idea of moving out there. The plan rihgt now is that we are leaving Charlotte NC on Thursday the 28th, DRIVING across country hopefully getting there late saturday/ early sunday. My girl has a bunch of running to do (permits etc....) and Im not leaving until 4:00 wednesday, July 4th. What I want to know is if I can hook up with some of you guys and kinda see what's what both on the Job and housing front. I need a real-world perspective of this place before I can commit to moving 2200 miles from everything I know. If I do move, it will not be until the first of the year. Anyone help me out? Im probably not going to have a car since we are driving hers w/ all her $hit in it.

Cheers!

It might be best to get with a realtor as they will know "real world" stuff about the best places to live and the cost of living. Karim is a realtor and might be able to help.

Karim is no longer in the realestate business.you may want to check out sites like vegashomes.com or even check the area for yourself.I'd most definitely check 15 minutes east or west of Vegas.I'm on the SE side and like the Henderson area myself.just a heads up for you..It gets upwards of 120 or so in the summer time.get ready for the heat if you decide to come.

Peace

Thanks man. I hear it gets wicked hot. We got the humidity here, Ive always been told west has dry heat, whatever that means. I wouldnt be looking to buy anything at first, probably just rent until Im 100% Id want to stick around. What about jobs and stuff like that? We are closing our business in november (european auto shop) and Im sick of cars...want a change, but not really any formal education. Some college, but bit off more than I could handle at NC State and never went back. What kindof money do people make? It know that question couldnt be more broad, but I hear stories...sounds like there is money to be made just about everywhere

I appreciate you guys helping me here...this is the kind of info Im looking for. Im only gonna have 3 days to poke around while Im there

check this for jobs in the area

http://secure02.mgm-mirage.com/employment/...sp?property=001

if you haven't thought about it, a casino dealer makes about $200 or so a day(gets minimum wage, but tips add up).don't really need any formal education for this job, just a little training beforehand.

hope this helps

Try and get into a tipping job. For me Im a doorman/valet (frontier) and Im a bartender Ap.(harrahs). I live on the SW side which I like, you can get a nice townhouse with attatched garage for about 1100 a month which is not bad at all.
