Default S2000 Mechanic Recommendations

Hello all,

I am looking to find any mechanics in the las vegas area that you would recommend that is currently active. I am fairly new to the area and in need of getting some valve work done as well as brake/bushings inspections. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dave McFarlan has always been the go to mechanic in the Valley. He’s working on a career change at the moment though and the newest shop getting the push is RMC Motorsports. Cheers!

Unfortunately, from my experience, trust worthy mechanics and body shops are hard to come by in las vegas. Last alignment I got from a shop here. The guy didn’t know how to read the alignment machine.

My solution is doing everything myself.

Another solution is taking a quick trip to CA.

Default RMC is a no go for me

I went yesterday to RMC Motorsports to introduce myself and to find a suitable replacement for when the S2K wizard finally walks away and I have to admit I was turned off. I asked Sean for a list of services they provide and he kinda shrugged off the question and was like, “yeah we do it all, an engine is an engine so whatever, I’ve worked on a couple s2k’s and they don’t seem that difficult”. I dunno about you, but for me and my baby, I expect the response I want to be “Oh hell yeah, I love the F series motors, have done a ton of work to both the ap1 and ap2’s, great cars, can I check out your sweet ride??” Then when I inquired about a valve adjustment that I needed to do next, he fumbled around on his computer and then his phone for 15 minutes blaming technology for not saving passwords, he quoted me 425 on the valve adjustment. I hit up Dave and he quoted me 170 for the same job. It’s going to be a sad sad day when Dave retires but as far as finding a great shop that will love our cars the way we do, RMC gets a pass from me.
