What would you do?
What should I do with my S2000:
A. Ship the car on a transport for $800
B. Have a friend drive the car for $550
C. Do nothing... suffer for three months.
History to help choose
I'm stuck in middle Georgia. I live in Vegas. It's the armpit of America. There's literally jackshit to do out here and Atlanta is a boring 2hour drive away.
I'm left with a Tacoma 4x4 pick up and a Ducati Monster 696...making driving even less interesting. and I'm here for three months and only been here for two weeks.
Option A.
I've asked a few friends if they'd be willing to drive the 2100miles from Vegas in my S2000 (with hardtop). The trip would take 31 hours drive time (per google). Gas would be roughly $250, hotel room for two nights at $100, and a plane ticket to get my friend back to Vegas, $200. Total cost to have my S2000 with me for the next three months, $550.
Then in three months, I rinse and repeat, driving it back across the US.
Pros:
- I'd be sane by the end of the trip
- I'd enjoy being here 100% more
- I get to drive across the USA, which I haven't ever done.
- I can attend autocross/track day events in/around Atlanta
- It has a hardtop, so weather, road noise, etc is noticably easier to live with, so the drive across won't be horrible.
Cons:
- Likely add 10K miles in a span of three months (4200miles in just get the car here and back)
- Driving across the USA in a S2000 might suck. A LOT.
- Possible problems with the car while traveling
Option B.
Pay a transporation company to pick it up and deliver it.
Pros:
- Easiest
- Safest
- Half the miles on it
- All of the pros above
Cons:
- it's $800.
Option C.
Leave it in Vegas, enjoy it when I get back.
Pros:
- No additional miles
- Cheapest
Cons:
- Driving a pick up is horrible and the Monster is an image bike more than a bike that's fun to ride
- Don't know when I'll ever get back to this side of the country to do a track day... let alone one in my own car.
