Default '96 Teg!

So today I put a deposit down on a 96 Integra for my son Chris. He has been doing really well taking care of himself, dealing with life issues on his own and staying sober. He has done well holding down a pretty good job and he and his room mates moved out of the shack they were living in and moved into a place that looks like a house. I am very proud of him. However, his 91 Civic wagon needs some maintenance and a new windshield, so I started looking for a new car for him. I found a 1996 Integra LS sedan 5 speed with only 74,000 miles on it. Its a little dinged up as it spent much of its life in Charlestown, but not too bad. Most of it could be taken out by the ding man. The price was a couple thousand less than what I see cars with over a 100K advertised for, so I think it is a pretty good deal.

Anyway, it has two issues I want to help Chris deal with. First, the trunk lock was popped so I'd like to replace that for him. The ABS light comes on intemitently and I'm wondering if there are any known issues with that. Even though the brakes feel good, I'd probably want to put in new pads and maybe rotors. does anyone know if there are any tricks to doing this on an Integra? Finally, what is the best internet forum for Integras? I have seen a few, but I'm not sure which one is the best.

Thanks guys.

Bill

Bill - Congrats on the Integra find!

Here is a link to Honda Tech - they have forums for Integras and if you post your ?'s - hopefully someone will be able to give you some inside information. Good luck!

Just make sure you put NOTHING IN the car that is valulable or if possible put an alarm on it as it's a HIGHLY stolen car.

Good deal though gotta love honda engines!!!

Thanks Linda. That site kinda scares me. Lots of posts about cars with mechanical problems. Oh well, I guess I'm better off knowing what can go wrong.

First thing I would do is check the brake fluid. It has probably already been done but that may be the simplest answer to the ABS light. My buddy's Supra had an intermittent ABS light and that's all it turned out to be, after much unneeded troubleshooting. Remember, simplest answer is usually the right one! Good luck and good find.
