Another weight loss thread.
Last March, I cut out virtually all the booze. I was wearing tight 38 waist pants and pushing 40's. I'm over 40 pounds lighter and wearing comfortable 34's. Dropping the weight made getting on the bike more enjoyable and I've been going to a health club 2-3 times a week since early December. I eat the same as I did before.
That's me in the white T-shirt, 2nd from the left in Sept 08

And me on the left in October 09:

No snacks, unless it something like a sugar free popsicle.
I eat a salad at lunch and usually a salad or small meal at dinner. I avoid breads, pastas, rice, potatos. I don;t avoid all carbs, just the starchy stuff.
After dinner, I get changed and go on the tread mill. Every other day, I lift weights and on the alterante days I do abdominls. I'll skip one or two days a week, depending on what I am doing at home or how busy I am at work.

That was my exact story. the 38s were getting tight, and I don't own no stinking 40s. I either lose weight or buy a new wardrobe. I went for the weight loss. After 12 pounds, the 38s are mostly all too lose to wear and the 36s mostly feel good. Maybe a bit snug, but not as bad as the 38s were feeling. My goal is to get back down to my 33s

Daily exercise first thing in the morning it the only way I can stay in shape. If I don't do it in the morning, it just does not get done. For me, exercise at home does not work so I go to the gym and spend 30 minutes on the elliptical and another 30 with weights.
I sorta watch what I eat during the week, on weekends I eat whatever I want. Planning your meals ahead of time helps a lot. I have cereal with non-fat milk for breakfast, rice and chicken for lunch ( I make big batches and freeze in lunch boxes). I bring grapes and bananas to work for snacks and then reward myself with a cookie with my afternoon coffee.
BTW, Wii Boxing is a good way to burn some calories if I can't make it to the gym.

I cut out the beer (for both health and financial reasons) around Christmas.
I've made a commitment to hit the cross-country ski machine 4 times per week. That started 1/2/2010. If I don't do it first thing in the morning, something else always seems to interfere. I am not a morning person: I miss that 1/2 hour of sleep...

The morning does not help me, except on weekends when I sleep in a bit late and can work out until 10:30 or 11:00. then I can shower and have an early lunch. but I'm still left with time on my hands at night. that is the bad time for me. I'm much better off eating a light dinner and then hitting the tread mill. By the time I am done, it is usually 9:30 or 10:00 and I am not hungry.
