Default Baby Class

OK.....so..

Here are a few "take aways".....

Pushing a baby out is like taking a really really really really really really big poop.

Coincidentially....Mom's can poop themselves right on the delivery table while trying to push the baby out.

The baby's first poop is very black and tarry.

Newborns pee or poop 8-12 times a day.

Sometimes newborns pee or poop while you are cleaning a previous pee/poop incident.

Poop happens.

Alot.

And TACO!!!!
T ----Time
A ----Amount
C ----Color
O ----Odor

and

BURP!!
B-Breathe
U-Urinate
R-Relax
P-Position

Man, they are taking away all the surprises of childbirth and new babies. Back in my day we went in to it dumb and stupid.....we learned as we went along. , AND we called our Mom's a lot.

Geez Cubby, thanks for sharing that.

Coincidently, I'm pretty sure we all have something very similar to look forward to when we get to be really, really, really

Anyone know a good face down changing technique?

Either that or a blast shield....perhaps some waldo gloves.

I can vouch for that and the fact that the first poop will be black and tarry.

I have found after two boys that BEFORE taking off the old diaper, you should have the new one already spread open and ready to go, sitting close by. This way, if you peel off the old one and old faithful erupts, you can simply hold the fresh diaper over the spout and keep the walls and yourself dry.

The stuff about moms pooping in labor I don't know because Steph had to have cesarians. I was in the room while they hacked her open though and it was pretty damned cool to see all of her guts laid out over her stomach

Pretty much all babies come out looking like Winston Churchill with a cone head. This goes away after the first few hours/day and they take on their own look.

Sleep now or forever hold your peace because they like to eat every couple hours for the first few weeks.

I worked in a hospital before going back to school.

and yess, the pressure of the babies skull on the lower colon will effectively clear all contents.
they normally have a catch bucket located at the end of the delivery table.

This is all TMI.

But, since we're sharing.... The day after the grandson was born I was changing him when the hose started spraying. After that he on me. Just his way of letting me know who was boss, I guess.

I'll tell ya. A newborn baby IS THE BOSS, for quite a while. They are very needy. Feed 'em, change 'em, burp 'em,change yourself since you probably just got barfed on, and about 1 1/2 hours later, you do it all over again. They ARE in charge.
