the passats and other newer vw's sense the pressure within the gas tank and if its low it will set off the engine light.

this happened to me when I lost my gas cap. after replacing it, the check engine light went away after a day I think.

on a side note - how low were you on gas????

on another side note is your refridgerator running??

Oh, boy, I was running on fumes.

My fridge is running well. That reminds me, I need to give you guys more info about the housewarming party next week.

Mine is the 98, 66K, the engine still runs like new. Average 26mpg!
