ewww good luck with that one, BTW what kind of car did you end up getting?

About shopping tomorrow

HELL NO!
Got him a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT...3 liter V6 5-speed, leather interior, infinity
sound system with 4 disc cd changer and cassette, power moonroof, power seat.

I'm praying that the detailer can do a good shampooing and/or steam cleaning of
the carpet and headliner to at least minimize the smoky smell, if not eliminate it.

I've never had any experience with a smoke laden interior.

Should they be able to get the smell out?

Time will tell, but its hard to do. Smoke smell just gets in there and never seems to come out.

Just spent the last hour looking at ads and this year I'm really not that impressed. I think I'm staying home.

My A4 was a smoker's car when I bought it. I actually did nothing, and after 3 months I just couldn't smell it anymore. Then again, those were summer months with plenty of heat and windows-down.

The best thing you've got going for you is that it's leather... cloth seats just add more surface area for smoke to seep into. Leather doesn't seem to absorb smells. So with a rug shampooing, you should be most of the way there.

Might want to give the leather a good cleaning/conditioning, too. If nothing else, it'll be cleaner & softer, and smell like leather conditioner instead!

Ad far as shopping, no freakin way am I going out. I've never gone out on Black Friday

I don't care what kind of deals there are... I simply have a fundamental problem with the concept of a company getting me to change my behavior just to get me to spend money there.

I can almost hear them going "Dance, puppets, DANCE!!!"
