Default Bridgestone S-02's question

Ok. Here is the deal. I have the S-02's all around on my car with a 17" size. The only pattern available NOW is the S-02A tread pattern. I think I can get a set of the S-02 regular pattern from a source. How bad would it be to run the S-02A's up front and the S-02 regular in the rear?

Reason being is the guy special ordered them and can't get rid of them now!!! So that equates to a KILLER DEAL for me.

Full sheet from Bridgestone is hear listing all S-02's available now.

Wow nice to see that our tires are among a prestige stable of automobiles.

Did anybody notice that the boxster tires are lighter than ours?

Jim, good find on the link it should be in a tech thread for people to look up.

I'd get them only they were a killer deal as you stated, or it I'd just evolve to S03's or something different that you can get easily. To Bridgestone, the S03's are an improvement in wet weather, controlled tire grip, and better wear, but everyone tends to think the S02's are stickier.

S-0's you are WRONG on every count except that they are stickier. I drove on them before. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. THEY SUCK compared to S-02's. TRUST ME!

I am just quoting what Firestone/Bridgestone says... I think the S03's blow away S02's in the rain and I can't comment on tire wear yet. The S03's break traction easier but are more controlled than S02's. I like the smooth sidewall of the S02's better; they're easier to detail.

At this point, I wouldn't go back to S02's just because of the wet weather improvement. Neither are that expensive of a tire either way.

The S02 vs S03 debate will never end...

Looks like you can save 6 lbs. (total) by going with the ZR rated tires.........

The S02 vs S03 debate will never end...
If your looking at the NON OEM tire 16" DON'T DO IT. There has been long discussion on this but I will cut all the BS.

The OEM REAR is a 225 but has the contact rubber patch to the ground of a 245 tire. That is why the Boxer tire is lighter..........less rubber.

As for the S03's and rain..........they suck!!!! I drove with them in the rain they tram lined/ hydroplained etc. AND easily could break the car out from traction. Yes controlable but I would much rather stick than slide! I can deal with the car no problem when it breaks loose even on S02's.

The debate is OVER for me and this thread. I drove with them on my car........2 rears and 1 set of fronts. THEY SUCK! Matters not what you read I had them and they are not ALL THAT in the rain. Honestly they felt more unstable than that S02's.

Nuff said about that.

Back on topic..........anybody know the handeling issues of the S02A's up front and the S02's on the back.

Overall Section Width 8.1 S2000 VS. 7.8 Boxster
Overall Section Width 9.2 S2000 VS. 8.7 Boxster.

Showing you there is MORE RUBBER. Look it up on the wheel and tire forums. They ran over paper with 225 S-02's and 225 Bridgestones and WOW lot's less rubber contact total.

Plus the rubber will wear slower when pushed hard than with higher tread wear rated tires. Though if driving like YO MAMA then the S02's will wear faster.
