Default CEL!

Got a CEL tonight so do the short the diagnostic plug and get a 6-0. From what I find that is the code for the Air pump.
How important is that thing? What does it do?? Should i reset the ECU and see if it comes back? Should I kick the air pump a few times?

not overly important at all, its more of an emissions related part linked to cold starts. i don't even have one on my s the aem eleminates it. There are numerous people who chose to remove the air pump and all its associated parts on there street driven cars. There is a kit that came out just recently that prevents the engine/ecu from throwing a cel once it has been removed. No real worries, none the less. I would clear the code and see if anything pops up again in the future.

sounds right. that thing is tied into vacuum lines and the egr, they are all in that general area you are describing.

given that you had the valve cover off this weekend it wouldn't be a big surprise that something didn't get plugged back in all of the way.

Mostly big stuff connected to the valve cover - 2 elect plugs - check - 2 large vent lines - check - thats it. Other than that small line i found, everything seems fine. Pulled ecu fuse and waited 15 min or so and the light is still on...

i though that you needed to do more than just unplug the fuse to the ecu to clear the code???

thanks for the search - glad to know I found that one too. I normally suck at the search - not like Bass who can find anything from any era.
