Chain restaurants
So I got a family gathering tonight. The choice was to meet at a chain restaurant. What's up with the "we can't take reservations"
at those places? Come on people, at least take reservations for large groups.
I had an "in" who was "supposed" to let them know, we were coming and supposedly he "put us in the book". When I called ahead, they played dumb. Maybe I was supposed to play along?
?
Well, I wonder how the family feels about take out pizza at my place. If the wait is too long it will pi$$ me off.

I have a hunch the family will be pissed off if they can't get a steak!!!!

Can't you just call ahead in the morning? That's what I normally do. Just last week I met with former colleagues at Fridays, it was 8 of us. I called in the morning and when we arrived the table was ready for us in 5 minutes, the wait at the time was 45 minues for those just arriving.

So, did you manage to get uncle Ned on the saddle?

Mas, this restaurant only takes "call ahead" reservations an hour before. When I called, they gave me the "we have several big parties this evening, can't guarantee when we will seat you." As I mentioned earlier I think it was some kind of game I was supposed to play, since a bartender I know supposedly put us "in the book"; but there are no "official reservations taken", so how could there be a book?
Either way, chain restaurants that won't take a reservation for a large party get a
Maybe McD's for the next family gathering.
