They never just cut a check, you get to turn in expenses and get reimbursed.
but maybe your guys are different. I'd just hate to see you live like monks only to find out you just saved the company some money.
We definitely get paid as part of our regular check. It's a sweet deal. The last contract through URS paid us 80% of the GSA per diem rate but the one who holds the current contract pays us 100%. Now we're looking at being there until Apr 1st - gonna be nice to bag 7 weeks worth.

Ryan I'm rather surprised that they will pay your per diem even if you don't spend it and have receipts for it. ( yeah I travel a lot)

you might want to check on that.
$132 per day while I'm assigned to the Concord area and tax free - It's a pretty sweet deal being a gov't contractor.
Yup, per diem is per diem, no receipts needed.

I have a lot of single co workers who pretty much live on extended work assignments to other areas. They're back in Groton for 2 weeks, and then it's 6 months somewhere else. They make some crazy cash thanks to the per diem, since they stay with friends and eat cheap.

Went to the Margarita's in Concord -- cool place! Menu was just like every other one but the building is an old jailhouse - had my meal in a cell.

I agree, I provide no receipts to receive Per Diem.

I do not however, make a lot of extra cash, or any for that matter. I refuse to cheap out on my food just to make some $ off the company. I usually blow more than the daily per diem at the bar each night with co-workers. I don't mind this one bit.

My brother would tell me stories about trying to save money on the road and keep his per Diem. Stuff like, he would always book a hotel with free breakfast. Then, grab a few breakfast bars or granola bars and save those for a working lunch. Dinner, if there was nothing good in town get a pizza and eat off it for a few days. On top of that his company card has some kind of points program so occassionally those flights and hotels that are charged are cashed in for gift cards to chain restuarants. Talk about saving money.

Next week I'm kind of tied up Mon-Tues-Wed but I can get up that way on Thursday or Friday by 6-6:30 without issue. I've been meaning to check out The Barley House in concord, or we can hit up something else.

I am thinking Concord or Manchester. Or I can give him a ride and we can go anywhere

Guess we need to hear back from him first

Ate there Wed night - GREAT food - I totally wanna go back.

I'm only in town during the week and avail Tues night to Thurs night. I'd be game most night, though I've made some plans for dinner at my Aunt's. I'd be free Feb 21, 23 (Thurs), 29, Mar 7, 14, 20, 21, 22 at this point.

I'll be driving up and will have my beater most weeks. Thurs would be great.
