Default Dyno question

Does it make sense to dyno a stock S? Just kinda wondering if it would be worth while to have that done to make sure the car is running at top performance even if it doesnt have a Greedy or turbo/supercharger.

every S is slightly different, so its good to have a baseline of how your S is doing.

when we were at turner motorsports this past weekend, they dyno their cars after every race just to see how its performing.

I dynoed my stock s2k. I figured it was money well spent to find out how well my 00 s2k with 50k miles on it was performing.

i don't see the point unless you plan to mod - and then you can use it as a baseline - otherwise why bother?

:iagrree: with Steve (imagine that ) about the modding issue. If you are going to mod, go for it as a baseline. If not, what does it matter?

My reason was to see if my engine was beat to death by the former owners.

I don't think that is a good gauge of past flogging. Car could have been low to begin with, or been exceptionaly high (factory freak) and now near normal numbers. I think a compression/;eakdown test would yield better idea on engine condition.

Of course for shits and giggles there is nothing wrong with having the car dynoed as long as the price is fair. Even for the purposes of a baseline before modding, if you don't dyno on the same day/conditions/machine when the mods are done, the numbers are still slightly subjective.

cheaper to run the 1/4 mile to see how your car is running...trap speeds should tell you.
