I have a friend that used to do state inspections at the Honda dealer. He said that all inspectors have gotten a bulletin about cel fix so some places might check!

I currently running a 3in tp and 3 in exhaust. Ill throw back the stock exhaust before inspection.

So for sure its just safety inspection correct?
No it'll just be safety inspection next year (in 2017). Right now you'll still need to pass readiness codes via obd2. I also have a 2002 and live in MA.
I'll be moving to mass when my lease is up which is may 2017. So ill be good for the 15 year inspection.

Ah OK. But FYI, there is one clause of the "Exemptions for MA Emissions Inspections" section from the link I shared earlier that is odd (seems to contradict the fact that after 15 years they don't look at OBD readiness codes):

"Passenger vehicles (cars, trucks, SUVs) manufactured before 2002 do not get a tailpipe emissions test, but must undergo the OBD test, if applicable."

Not clear to me what they mean by "if applicable"... could they mean: if the car has/had a functioning OBD2?

I only just saw this yesterday.. it is a bit concerning for me. Since I'm banking on _not_ needing OBD to work on my 2002 in 2017 -- because I've switched to a standalone ECU (AEM infinity).
