We have the extended cable. Cable bill is $52.00/month......way too much to watch TV. Thought about Direct TV, but we have TV's all over the house, and they do get used. So, we'd be paying for a lot of boxes if we switched over.

I'll just goof off here instead of watching TV.
I got 5 Direct TV boxes in my basement if you need'em......

I need Fios in Melrose. I hate comcast. They have raised rates twice so far this year. They claim the first rate hike wasn't right so they had to correct it by doing it again. I can't believe they pull this crap. Their quaclity of service is fine, but their pricing sucks.
Most of the time cable rates go up in direct relation to what channels charge the cable company to provide the channel. A great example was when Manny (from the Red Sox) signed his deal with the Sox, NESN (which is owned by the sox) raised the rates to be able to pay for his salary. The Manny tax was what it was called........

I am soon switching (from Dish) to FIOS TV as well, already have the FIOS Internet (along with 5 cell phones on a family share and local, long distance and international dialing). I am saving a lot with the bundle as well and I have had no serious problems with Verizon customer service in the last 7 years.

The only thing I need is some sort of a remote switch to send tv output to different rooms in the house. We have 3 adults in the house and 6 different places to watch TV and I don't want to get 6 set top boxes. Anyone has any ideas?

Why is this better than just picking a movie from your TV screen using your remote? Why is it better to have to go to my computer first, find a movie, download it, send it to a TV, and then move to the TV to watch it? I don't mean to be a kill joy, but I just don't see the advantage.

My neighborhood stinks! We can't even get Verizon DSL. So, there's no way Fios is available here.

I have Comcast HSI and cable and it costs an arm and a leg. When I lived in RI I had Verizon DSL and DirecTV and it was significantly cheaper.

Some people I work with have Fios and they like it a lot and these are not even technological people.

This would be good for those who download (buy, rent or steal) movies via the Internet instead of renting from store or via netflix/etc. So, you basically download the movie to your computer then the verizon box is able to fetch that movie from your computer and play on any one of your TVs. You don't go to the computer and send the movie from there to the TV, instead you tell the TV to go get it from your computer. How you get the movie downloaded to your computer is not the TV's problem. I know some people who only rent movies online and this would be great for them. You can also download old shows and other non-copy-protected stuff online for free and watch on any TV in your house just like it was a recorded show on your DVR. I belive TIVO also supports hookup with a computer/Internet.

DISCLAIMER: I am sort of guessing all this based on what I have read about FIOS TV, I have yet to experience it myself so anyone can feel free to correct me.
