Haven't seen any thread talking about computers. Was wondering if there was any computer (Or gadget) enthusiasts out there. We can talk about anything, from Phones, tablets, laptops, computers and components, computer repair, operating systems, or whatever.

I'll start.

I drove to MicroCenter in Cambridge today and picked up one of these bad boys. A GTX 570. These are Nvidia's Mid to Top end video cards.





The quality of the cards is amazing and I'm loving the heat sink fan on this thing. The bends just make it look so damn sexy.

I got this because I bought a GTX 560TI but it was having trouble running BF3 on Ultra settings, so I exchanged it. The FPS was unbearable. I'm hoping the 60 dollar in price difference will be worth it. I will install this beast tonight and report back m results. In the future I hope to pick up a 2nd one in hopes to make a stable SLI system. Yippie.

I bought my fiancee a iPad 2 this Christmas, and she bought me an Asus Transformer Tablet. I love my Transformer and it does everything that I want to. My only complaint was that the iPad has far a superior speaker than my Transformer. Infact I think the iPad speakers sounded better than any other android tablet I've heard. It just has more bass and treble I guess. The Asus just sounds like a cell phone speaker. But other than that, it works flawlessly.


I just got done rooting it and have been testing out the overclock speeds of the custom rom I'm using.

 

huge anime fan here. those two anime you pick up are great.

 

Yeah I recently stopped downloading them. I'm a HD whore and no longer get out of bed for anything less than blu ray.

 

Likely will be buying an iPad3 when it comes out and will replace a Lenovo Laptop.

I have a MacBook Pro only a couple years old so this is very capable for many years to come. We both have work laptops so can use those for word processing if needed.

Work is beta testing work phones other than BB's and happy to say I have an iPhone 4S and works just fine and is faster to receive mail than my computer.

Higher resolutions make anything look better. Regardless of being a real life film or a cartoon. Now of course older Animes that were originally created in 480p does not look that great when upscaled to 1080 resolution. Newer ones that come out are noticeable.

I have Lion King on VHS, DVD, and now Blu Ray and am really amazed. It almost looks like the movie was made recently.

 

Just watched Dumbo and Bambi on BluRay and they looked pretty good too. Can't wait to see what replaces it in the future.

I've been patiently awaiting the Nikon D800 and D8000 release. That way I can get my D7000 for less

 

Has anyone here compared the new Kindle Fire to the iPad? Wondering if the iPad is worth the extra cash?
