Default Got my S... Almost!

Hey Guys,

Wanted to let you know first - made the deal on an '05 S this weekend. Dealer is replacing the rear tires (well worn), so I should be picking up on Saturday. That's only 5 days to go! Not bad, considering I've been looking at S2000's since about 2002.

This summer I decided to swap my "fun" second car for something else. I had a highly modified Jeep Wrangler. Spent tons of money on it. I was very involved in a local jeep club for the past 10+ years. I just got tired of it and decided it really didn't fit me anymore. So after selling my jeep for a great price this summer, I've been looking for an S. In the meantime I picked up another wrangler from a coworker, that I've "flipped" for about a $3,500 profit (I am using it for a trade in). I was originally looking for an 02-03 S, but just never found the perfect car. I was very close on a couple of them, but I'm very particular and want the car to feel right.

Two weeks ago I spotted a 2005 Sebring Silver for a very good price. The carfax was super clean and showed alot of maintenance records (makes me feel good). After test driving the AP2, I did actually prefer it a bit over an AP1. I also feel like the car has enough subtle differences (brake lights, headlight enclosure, wheels, front bumper, interior console) that it feels that much "newer".

So the rest is history. I am essentially an S owner now, not that I've technically picked up the car. But it's 99% a done deal.

Thanks again to everyone on here (especially new englander's) who've helped me out with questions. I can't wait to enjoy some nice rides and attend some of the meets. I have also spent some time checking out the local autocross events and hope to attend a few this year.

Kevin

WEelcome to the fold and post up some pics as soon a possible.

What kind of tires is the dealer putting on? If they are regular summer tires, as opposed to well treaded snows like Blizzaks, be really careful going home. Thoise tires will go away in a heartbeat if they touch ice and they don't really like teh cold either, even when dry.

They are putting on OE Bridgestone RE050's - to match the fronts (which are in good shape).

When I test drove it (cold weather, bald tires), I was VERY careful and actually surprised how the car performed. Unless the roads are wet, I'm not too worried about driving it in the cold.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take pics as soon as she's safe and sound in the garage!

Well Kevin,
congrats, now just keep your fingers crossed that we don't get any snow and you can get it safely home.
Despite the weather or becuase of it, it is actually the best time to get a good deal and buy a summer car.
I second Al's observation about the rears getting squirrelly in the cold.
Drive like a little old lady and stay out of VTEC and you should be fine though.

Welcome aboard, almost time to update that enthusiast to owner
