Got a speeding ticket
Got a ticket last night clocked in doing 40 when the PSL was 25
. It was also raining and dark so I suppose that doesn't help the matter. Officer was in an unmarked, black car parked 90 degrees from the road I was traveling on and strategically parked after a turn and on a side road between two apple orchard fields. Needless to say he was in a really good spot (
to him). Due to his positioning and my speed I only had about 2 seconds to react from when my radar detector went off and then I was almost perpendicular to his car after which I coasted then saw the blues and pulled over.
When I let off the throttle either I had slowed down enough to right at the 15 over mark or the officer was nice enough to write up the ticket at exactly 15 which puts the fine at 75.00 but had it been 16-25 mph over the limit it would have been a 100 dollar ticket.
Not sure if I will contest because I don't know what I would say... I was speeding, in the dark, in the rain, 15 over in a 25 (potentially more)
. Then again this is my first ticket in NH and I'm not sure what NH's policies are and if it would raise my insurance costs. I only have one previous ticket from running a red light in MA about 8 or 9 years ago.
Advice?

as a good driver with a clean record you may get a bye on that one. In RI it was 1 every 3 years of no tickets. "sorry - it wont happen again." is it worth $75 for a half day of time? -thats the question.

Kenta, sorry to hear that man.
with Jeff though NH is dirt cheap for fines! Wow only $75 in maine thats like a 185 fine. Anyhow take it to court do not pay the fine straight up. If you go to court the da with drop it a point bracket at minimum which will reduce your fine and the amt of points deducted from your license. Its well worth the time to go especially if you unluckily receive future tix.
