Default Heating next winter

As we sit here basking in summers warmth.... I decided to take a glance at heating oil futures for next winter delivery. ouch!!

they're running about $3.19 a gal at the moment. ( it was 2.80 a week or so ago. )

although this is the period when contracts for the winter get signed so a little run up isn't entirely unexpected.

So I'm guessing $3.50-$3.75 delivered to the home.
Gonna be a long cold winter with the thermostat set at 40°F.

About 3 winters ago it cost me about $7,000 to heat my 13 room house. I invested in a pair of large pellet stoves. Pellets last season ran me $2,200 and my house is much warmer. Still burn some oil occasionally but not much.
