Default Help! Need help! =)

So, Here is a chance for me to get a Sebring OEM Hardtop for $2000. Off course, I have to drive 5 hrs to get it.

Tell me why I dont want this.

Vinny, if you have driven in an S with a hardtop and you like it, it will be worth the drive all day. I would make the drive hands down if it were me.

It's one of those things that if you like it, you love it. I don't even consider removing my top now. I know Ryan has been getting pretty cozy with his too.

I say go for it, but you already knew that

not too sure as the only reason i bought my hardtop was because it was a killer deal and i knew i would make money on it.. just remember it's not like you can just install it and drive home - the hardware takes about and hour or so to install

what does hardtopguy sell new hardtops for?

me i never used the hard top too much and it was a real PIA to remove / install for one guy and then storage is another issue

if it was a grand then sure but a 10 hour road trip for 2k seems a bit steep

Hmm, it'll be about 100 bucks in gas and tolls and you'd have to turn it into an all day affair. Better put your silencers back in the greddy so you wont lose your hearing. And... you have to go to New Jersey.

Is the seller going to help you install the hardware? Apparently if you have an air chisel you could at least get the strikers in place in about 20 minutes and finish up the rest when you get home.

Steve, if he does the prep work before leaving, the install will be a 10 minute job down there. Four bolts on each side if he already has the plastics off and the metal dented in at that one spot.

If you have a day off from work, I still say $2100 (with the gas) is worth it.

If you have to lose a day of work (and pay), then it becomes marginal as you can get a new one shipped to you for a few more bucks. My last check with hardtopguy a month or two ago on the price of new ones was just about $3000 shipped. Maybe a bit more. The shipping prices have skyrocketed due to fuel costs.

Vinny, it all comes down to whether or not YOU will enjoy the top. for someone like Steve, who loves the open top, it is a waste. For me, who can't stand the top down except on rare occasions, it is worth it's weight in gold.

BTW: I just got the payout for the shipping damage on my top

gotta go try to make an appointment to get it fixed now!

wow 3k now for a hardtop.. and yup if the guy ships up the hardware it will take no time at all - jeff and i could install the hardware in about an hour at most

and jeff is 100% correct - vinney do you like top down 99% of the time or do you like top up?

who knows maybe if vinny is set to go to the NE - jeff will waive the shipping

Steve, even if he doesn't ship vin the catchers, I think he can just dent in the gussets and have the plastics already off when he heads down there. Then it is just a matter of bolting the catchers on each side. I think 10 minutes either way. But, it would be great if the guy would send him the catchers and harness before hand.

Vinny, I will help you put the catchers in if you get it. I had done a write up on it and got my first and only sticky from it in the UTH forum
