Default Ice Link i-pod interface

I am anticipating the arrival of my ice link i-pod interface on Monday. This device allows you to use the CD changer port on the factory radio to play music from your i-pod. You can also use the radio controls and secondary radio controls next to the steering wheel to control the i-pod. I'm pretty excited , because I've always had a CD changer in my car and my 20 gig i-pod is like having 500 of them. Anyway, the installation seems pretty simple. I'm planning on running the wire that connects to the ipod through the center console to the bin with the sliding cover (I have an 04). Is anyone familiar with removing the center console in an 04/05? Do you just pop off those plastic caps along the side and there are screws underneath or what?

There are hooks behind the seat. Pull the tab down.........remove screw pull off panel. As for the center consoul itself that all should be pop-off parts!

unscrew your shift knob and just pop the console up - and be sure to unplug the top / hazard switch - there are no screws

I would be concerned that the ice link is not compatible for the 04/05 head unit because the 04/05 car has a different CD changer plug then previous models. In 04 they added a factory x/m option

Wow! That is pretty surprising that the center console is so easily dismantled. According to the company's website, the model I ordered is for 2004+ S2000's and does not mention earlier S2K models so hopefully it works. If I get my dashboard in pieces and it doesn't have the right plug I will be fuming.

I'm thinking the other end of that harness must be plugged into the back of the radio. Unplug that and then plug in the ice link is the plan. If that's not the case this just got a touch more complicated.

There are many different companies which make products like this, but in terms of features this one is second best. Monster's iCruze is best I think, but the installation is more complicated and when you buy all the different iCruze parts and wires needed it ends up costing more than my ipod did. The only real difference with the iCruze is that you can also buy a screen which shows the song name, etc. You can buy the ice link at Best Buy now, but you can only get it there with a cradle. My ipod doesn't fit in the cradle unless I take it out of the protective case which would be a pain. I wanted it with the dock cable. So, I ordered it from logjam electronics. You can also get it from the company itself, but logjam and Best Buy are $30 cheaper.

Sometimes the plug on the END of the cable is different from the one on the back of the radio........sometimes not.

I guess it all depends on where Dension made the plug to plug into. The ice link won't be showing up until Monday. So, I hope to install it one evening after work next week. I'll keep you posted on how it goes and maybe even post some pictures.
