Default I'm fat

I hate being overweight and out of shape. It really is time to do something about it. I can't wait for Lainey's pill. By the time that gets approved for humans, I'll be in a wheel chair.

Marci's wedding is on Sunday, so I'm targeting Monday as the start of a lifestyle change. Healthy eating and exercise. I'm positng it here to make a commitment to do it. I hope this works better than the Healey thread

Good Luck with that....since January I've lost about 15 lbs. or so...gave up the gym for summer time as I sweat like a pig without going to the gym.

Good luck Bill, I've started down the same path over two years ago. Rarely does one ever look at one's own lifestyle and critically look at every aspect of it and see if any part of it can be done better. Most people get into a "comfort zone" and change doesn't happen until some major incident. About two years ago, I decided to look critically at every part of my lifestyle. It was like a little project. Look at my lifestyle from morning till night as if from a third person perspective, criticize and question everything I did and said from morning till night and try to find alternatives, better ways to do this, improve, repeat, form new habits and incubate a new lifestyle.

That is pretty much what I did eight years ago and it worked great. But I got busy and slipped back into old habits. On the good side, I know what works for me. I just have to do it!!!

Yeah, when life gets really busy or stressful, old/bad habits surface. Which is why, as part of my lifestyle change, I placed a big premium on simplifying my life and threw away or gave away a lot of "stuff". I found that the less "stuff" I had, the more free time I had, and reduced stress too.

I haven't implemented my personal diet in a while, but I found that not only does portion control really help you lose weight, it also will help you live longer...

A few years ago when I worked 2nd shift for 3 months, I lost almost 20 lbs by accident. That was more than 10% of my body weight. It's because I really only ate 1.5 meals a day, because at night, the cafeteria served limited meal options. I brought my own food in a 1 qt Pyrex bowl with a lid for dinner.

I woke up at 11 AM, made whatever dinner I wanted to make, ate some of it for lunch at noon, packed the rest into the pyrex bowl.

If it didn't fit in the bowl, I didn't have it for dinner. I even visited the ice cream machine for chipwiches several times, but I lost a lot of weight. The best part is that I did it without exercising at all. Which isn't the healthiest way, but shows what you can do without starving yourself.

So basically, just eat small meal portions. I mean REAL small meal portions. Get plenty of rest, drink your fluids, and cut back on the beer.
