Interstate venting!
AGGGGGGGGGGGGAH!
Whew......ok ok. Driving back from Delware (in the Touareg) yesterday, and Erin and I manage to time our departure perfectly with torrential downpour in Philly. I-95 is closed only minutes after we get on. Luckly it was closed just behind us and the police were letting the rest of us get through the flooded tunnel, one at a time.
If I was in the S, I would have hydrolocked, then floated away.....eeesh....
now the major gripe.
3 hours of standstill traffic on 84
I hit the trip computer reset and at one point did 1 mile in 37 minutes. F!
the real annoying thing was that there was very little to tell you what was going on. Just some stupid signs about construction....no highway advisory, nothing like "highway closed". Thats right! Totally closed, and nothing to let anyone know.
And worse....when after 3 hours of waiting in traffic, and finally getting to the detour, there was not a single sign directing anyone around the construction!!
People were heading off in 3 different directions.
All in all a 5.5 hours trip into 9.2 hour trip.

Have to rant!
I agree, connecticut highways are terrible....they have been "repaving" a strech of 95 around me...I have a feeling that paving companys are in kahoots with automobile companies (as well as ex-gov Rowland). Damn grooved pavement destroys shocks, ball ends, tyres, not to mention my hearing and ass. I mean, once the road is grooved there is no reason not to put some asphalt on it. Modern repaving machines are DESIGNED to take the asphalt off, mix it, and put it right back down, repaving shouldnt take more than one night...Grrr.....need to have a law where there is some limit to the amount of time a road can be grooved. Althought I suppose that would stop paving employees from making a career out of a single repaving job.....like some jobs on 95 (ahem Bridgeport) that damn job has been going on for....LONGER THAN I HAVE BEEN ALIVE......yet when work needs to be done (95 bridge fire) it is done in a few days....
PS: -> Long time resident of Connecticut.....where the state animal should be changed to the Jersey barrier....
PPS: -> Bridgeport Mayor also in bed with construction companies (caught)...and teenage girls....
PPPS: ->
what else can i do....
