Default Log Splitter

OK, I've had it with Oil. I've got a few Oak trees that were cut down that are littering my yard and need to be taken care of. Problem is renting from a rental place is a pain given the hours they want you to work around for check in and check out times.

Looking to find someone who wants to rent their splitter to me.

Anyone one interested? Will pay a fair price?

i have this - it's a 4 ton Ryobi electric splitter

and it went through all this.

it's not too fast BUT it sure beats swinging an axe - you are welcome to use it anytime you want. i've been using NL's gas one but it needs a new motor so i'm really thinking about buying one from home depot

Steve, why would you use the gas 1 over the electric? Are they that slow? I didn't even know they made them!

the gas one is rated for 28 tons and it's a lot faster on big stuff then the 4 ton electric one i have. also the electric one is great for stuff say 16 inches wide BUT when you have a log that is 2 feet wide you have to shave it ie hits the sides whereas the gas one will go right down the middle and split it

here's a good video on the one i have

Wow that was a long 11 minutes! On that big piece wonder why he didnt lay it flat. He put it on the curved side which to me made it move and slide up.

Also if you have that splitter it must kill your back as you have to reach under and hold the switch to get it to operate. I would modify that with a 3 or 4 foot length of cord and a remote switch to save the back! Other than that its a cool small lightweight workhorse.
