it actually pretty amazing how bad the stock s-02 s are in snow.
they just plain give up in a quarter inch of snow.
not to mention they are like driving on hockey pucks when it hits below 40 degrees. bad idea all around.

I drive in the snow also... take your time and you will be fine.

If you try to drive like it is when it's dry or even just raining you will wreck.

I drove mine last winter on Michelin X-Ice tires. The car is very snow worthy IMO. Easy to control, predictable as always, and I never got stuck. I don't think you need weight in the back.. this will only increase the likely hood for oversteer, which is the main concern. traction isn't that big of a problem.

I drove in heavy powder, packed snow, HEAVY slush, freezing rain, freezing slush, you name it and I was always in complete control. The back end never lost traction unless it was on purpose (s2K + snow = tons of fun ).

But I will reiterate what was mentioned before: you MUST have snow tires. You won't move a freaking inch on stock rubber. Also, it's not worth paying $500+ for snow tires when for a couple uses per season.. however, if you are planning on driving more when its cold, a winter tire is a good idea.. even a performance winter tire (not good in snow, but good in dry). stock rubber turns to bricks below 40*F and you will have no traction.

hehe.. got them on this morning.. of course, its 50* out now, but tomorrow back down to sub 30. I really only put them on since S02s are poor in the cold. I only drive it in the snow for fun, but I'm out alot in the dry.
