Maintenance Required
This probably isn't the right forum but I like hearing from you guys. Isn't that special!
My 'maintenance required' light came on the other day for no apparent reason. Is this important? What should I do?
It was right around when I turned 15,000 miles so I was thinking it might have something to do with it but I didn't think so.

It comes on at set milages to remind you to do your maintenance. The check light is the one you worry about.
You are just due for you 15000 mile check up and service. The light can be reset through the gauge cluster. I should be in the manual or if you search the site. You have to hold a trip button while cycling the key .

To reset the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED light (As indicated by the light that says, "MAINT REQU'D"):
- Have key inserted in ignition but in the OFF or LOCKED position.
- Push and hold the trip reset button on the right bottom corner of your gauge clutster.
- Turn key to full ON position and continue holding the button till the light goes off.
-(This part has been added for those who are impatient or who have the light only at the "blinking" stage and not yet solid.) KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO BE SURE OF A POSITIVE RESET. Or maybe just be patient and wait till the light is on all the time before doing this.
- (Some manuals may be a bit off in that they do not tell you to turn the key to the ON position.)
NOTE: This light is only a mileage counter and acts as a reminder to do your oil change following the "normal" maintenance schedule. When you have reached a certain mileage after the last reset, it will begin to blink upon each start up. Once you have covered more mileage, it will stay on all the time. The light can be reset anytime after it first blinks or stays on. (NO, the light does NOT mean your car is about the IMPLODE! -- RELAX!)

you guys are good...or just old and know everything! Just kidding...what I didn't tell you is that I was a little worried it might be serious because around the time it came on I slammed redline drag racing my girlfriend...looks like that isn't the problem though! It is a problem but not related to my dummy light!
thanks for the help!
