we as adults aren't suppose to be drinking milk anymore, which is why a lot of people are lactose intolerant

Mutants, the lot of you.

I loved milk as a kid, but I can't handle much anymore. Fortunately, I can still eat cheese in moderate amounts, and enjoy some ice cream, but that's about it. I can't drink a full glass of milk without problems.

I eat my cheerios with this:

In the world of Mammals, genetically only infants are capable of producing the enzyme lactase to digest milk lactose. Once a mammal is weaned off of its mothers milk, it no longer needs to digest it. Genetic triggers cause the production of lactase to cease once the animal reaches adulthood.

However, apparently a few thousand years ago, a mutation occurred, mostly affecting the caucasian human population. The mutation allowed the continued production of lactase throughout adulthood. Apparently, domesticated cats also developed a similar mutation, though I've never heard reasons for either.

Still, many asians, native americans, and other genetic groups are still "lactose intolerant." I say that in quotes, because it's actually the normal condition. That's why you don't see cheese in traditional asian food.

And now you know the rest of the story.
