After a great deal of thought I've come to the conclusion that no new car was going to leave me without a severe case of "sellers remorse". So I just purchased a 2001 BMW 330i. This way I've got a somewhat better winter vehicle (once I throw some Blizzaks on it) and get to keep my beloved S2000 that I've owned for 6+ years and racked up 94k miles thus far. The BMW comes with Premium Package,Sports Package,Metallic Paint,Zenon Headlamps and unfortunately an Automatic Transmission. But considering I got it for only $13,000 and it has only 53k miles on it I couldn't let the tranmission diswade me from my purchase. Besides that, it's a Tipronic so it shouldn't be that bad. The original window sticker came in at $40,985.00 so I think $13k is short money for a BMW with so few miles. Possibly the best part of the deal is service history, turns out it was serviced by a BMW/M-B specialist a mile from my house. I spoke with him (the mechanic) about the car and he told me the car was in for routine maintainance back in January and there were no issues with the car. When I asked him about doing a pre-purchase inspection he said it really wasn't necessary because if the car had any issues it would have been red flagged in its records and he remembers the car and said it was a "well kept car" . I'm planning on splitting my driving pretty even between the 2 cars. I typically drive 15k miles a years so my S2000 will probably get some well deserved time off every winter from here on.
