I was acting like an ass so that proves my theory that if you drive normally, which I have been doing lately, you won't slide off the road. I am sure drifting around a corner on snow tires can have the same result

Oh, even I am not that crazy to drive in snow with SO2. One time, I couldn't even move the car in my driveway with SO2 and an inch of snow. I even tried starting in 2nd gear and really slow. Believe me, I do not advocate summer tires in the winter, I just don't like the myth that they become teflon coated plastic disks and you will slide off the road instantly in even dry weather.

The first year I had my S I didn't want to store it until the last possible moment. Woke up one morning to find an inch of snow. There was no going forward, no going backward. As soon as it melted, off to storage it went.

I do drive it in cold weather tho. Case in point is this morning. With RE050A's on it, it still rides very hard til the rubber warms up, but I'm not at all worried about it slipping out from under me.

no car of mine with summer tires moves unless the outside temp is higher than 45 degrees. which means, time to put on the snows in the M

Thanks to all for the advice. I think for next season I will buy another set of rims and tires and use the original rims for winter. At least I would be able to drive when it is colder... Man, I hate the thought of not driving her for 5-6 months. I guess it is one more reason to love the warm weather. See you in spring.
