need some advice!
Ok I understand this is like the Seinfeld episode where Krammer and Newman wanted to bring the cans to MI cause they give ten cents deposit back on cans purchased in New York for five cents
Anyway

Too much involved to make the wood worth your while.
1. Have beer and chain saw day. Free wood, you spring for beer.
2. Suck it up and just use oil. It will be cheaper this year than last.
3. I won't burn wood. Too messy, especially since we don't have a fire place or a wood stove. I'm using oil and turning the heat to 70* when I'm cold. We'll buy Rick less beer if necessary.

Do the cost analysis - cost of wood + gas + mileage + rental costs - and do factor in your time which from the sounds of it would be 11 hrs. at least. Also, food costs because I doubt that you could go 11 hrs. without eating. Oh and don't forget the extra smokes you'll go through.
Is it still less expensive? If the answer is yes then go get your wood, if it's marginal spend the money and get something delivered more local.

Ok... seriously... Tough choice... a pickup truck rental from enterprise is about $170 from Saturday Pickup to Monday Dropoff. Unlimited Mileage. It's 58.49 day so if you left on a Friday and returned on a Saturday... it could be a little cheaper.
