Great place and friendly people. Also a great place to do business.. I been there 3 times and stayed there for 7 months the last time i was there. I was there from march to october-ish in 2005. Every time i go back business is always booming and there are always more and more tourists. My father who is a retired psychotherapist and college professor owns a business there and is currently residing in the capital. I plan to visit again later this year!
Definitely a top 10 destination to go to before you die, imo.

it could possibly be Cambodia, but Vietnam and Thailand alsol share similiar atmosphere. i been they once "july 2006".., im desperate to GO BACK ASAP!!! i also want to do business they, but dont know where to start? the rural lands are cheap but everything is getting more expensive there too.
