i've had PLENTY of transactions here....don't let one seller's mistake/misunderstanding discourage you from buying here...

i was SUPPOSE to pick up a hardtop from a guy in NY last month....on the last day he bailed out on me after telling me the whole week it was MINE.

whatever...it's all good, we're cool, i have a hardtop now. done deal.

i didn't post on s2ki about how messed up it was that he didn't sell it to me....is he considered a BAD seller to his community? NO... i did how ever express that i was bummed out...it happens.

Mounting evidence of this poor selling practice.

This is an internet site, not sears or ebay, it's similar to craiglist, buy at your own risk. If nonmember cant sell item on here, then they will move to craiglist and sell it there. Now you can not really track if he's on S2ki known guess or not nor anyone knows where this seller coming from.. I think at least most s2ki member and nonmember have met at the meet or known them personally from some where, that they could recommend if this sale is from the nonmmber but he's good to deal with. I believed that member forsale only thread does not/will not solve the problem(scam), let make an example: I would pay $20 to become a member so I can post up an item for sale( hardtop for $2300 including shipping). Now you/we think that I am (saler) is a S2KI member, he must be trust worthy. I dont think so, spent $20 and scam $2300 is a good deal to me , one time deal. For sale thread should open up for everyone and CO delete this thread in 30 days to clean up thread then make new thread instead let the thread run forever<------this is not hard to do. Graiglist clears their forsale item every 7days due to the free post traffic. We have no traffic at all so let make it 30days, simple. Once again buy at you own risk, we could share if the sale is from a good/bad saler. My opinion.

Yes , in my view pickup and money transfer were all that was left to complete the transaction. I trusted the sellers description of the item , unused and a 9 out of 10. He should have trusted that I would show up with money in hand as I described. I had intended to paint everything but the vents so if there was imperfection it would have been corrected at that time.

...
Still sounds like you could have walked away from the deal to me. You may have trusted the description, but I don't see how the seller could have compelled you to buy it if you decided you did not want it for any reason at all. I agree that sellers should not say they will hold an item for you and then sell it without prior notice, but absent any monetary consideration for holding it, it is just rude and not a breach of contract.

If someone is a scammer its easy to get away, regardless of "information" used to create an account.
