Default Non-Blinking CEL on S

My S has thrown a non-blinking CEL and the light is staying on.

Garaged the car for the winter. Drove it a few days with out problem. Got it inspected no problem.

Then the last 2 times I've driven it ... It starts fine in the garage. solid CEL light is still there on the dash readout ... I take it out to dinner without even getting on it ... it cools down during dinner ... then when I go to start the car ... it turns over but it is a very rough start.

Odd that this does not happen when it sits for a week without driving. Only when it cools down and restarts within a few hours.

I have not problems when driving just when it is a cold restart .

Thoughts?

Glenn, if your reading this can we get together and reset the CEL?

Unplug your positive battery terminal for 30 minutes this will reset the ecu. Than just drive your car normal for a while with no vtec. See if this fixes your issue before doing anything else. I had the same issue for the first time this spring in 8 years and that fixed it for me.

I would go somewhere and get the cel code read before you reset it so you know what is causing it to come on and be able to better diagnose it before you reset it. If you were closer you could borrow my code reader, but maybe someone else can help you out closer.

Thanks all for the advice. Nice to know I have a reset Option if needed.

Any suggestions where they might do a CEL check for free?
