Disregard what I said about bringing the lude in case we finish early. I just realized you will need the red baron for the shock install

Does the same hold true for diff. fluid as with MTF?

I know there was some talk briefly about this in another thread but what
is the general consensus about the best diff. fluid?

I am going to go back to OEM with the diff fluid as well and see whats up. Personally, I don't see how you can feel the difference in the diff unless you track or auto-x and get a reduced binding feeling from the rear end on hard accelerated harp turns. I am sure the OE stuff protects great, which is all I really care about. Plus it is probably like $4 to fill the diff with OE as opposed to $20 with the "good stuff"

I'd spend the extra $16 if it was going to help protect the diff.

I'd rather pay that than $$$$$ for a new diff.

Jeff, Does Honda even make a OE fluid for the diff?

they just say to use straight 90w.

I will see if they have any at the dealer. If not, I will get some at Autozone from Mobil or whatever.

that diff is going to outlast the motor unless you are doing launches at 7k no matter what you put in there unless it is something that is not made for it.

Honda does not sell a Diff fluid for our cars. Yes they fill the pumpkin from the factory but they do not sell a fluid for our diffs. Yes they sell a diff fluid but it is NOT for the S.

There has been a ton of discussion on s2ki and vtec.net and s2000.com about this. I dont post this to argue i post to possibly save you from terminal damage to your diff.

this is a thread with some info https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=115704

My opinion on the matter is $17 that includes the shipping charge for a quart of the new LE is well worth it. Much cheaper than having to rebuild a diff.
If you didnt know our diffs are the weakest part of our drivetrains as they are outsourced from mazda. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0804_tur...tech/index.html

I started using le607 at 65000 miles when my diff felt loose and whined like all heck. I have been faithfully using le607 and now the new le1605 since than my car now has 101000 miles the diff is quiet the cars shifts smooth and i have had no issues at all. Just my experience. I wont use anything but the LE now.

This is what I use: http://www.ricks2k.com/products/le1605.php

Erick and I just changed to the new duolec at his house the day of the SM party, when we pulled the plug i carefully inspected it for metal and shavings there was nothing to be seen. I was pretty amazed at how clean it was.
