The "Official" bash doug thread
Ok, I'm going to take some responsibility for this thread. Some of you had complained to me about Doug and I didn't take it seriously. Doug, I should have sent you a PM, I'm sorry I didn't.
With that said, is this really the kind of thread we want to have here in New England?
If someone is annoying you, there really are better ways to deal with it than a thread dedicated to publicly bashing the person. I speak from experience on this.

Bill i guess you missed the fact that this thread is nothing more than a joke - no one really bashed doug in this thread..
not too sure if you read the posts today about what transpired but doug basically said C-YA - this thread was my way of asking him to come back
heck i was thinking of doing these posts monthly like your MTM threads maybe next week it will be a bash bass thread and then maybe a bash Rex thread..
i guess some folks take this board way too seriously these days and that's kind of sad very sad

Good grief, I was in high school long ago, I had no idea NE was run by a bunch of school girls. Complaining to the CO about a member seems rather childish to me. An adult would take their complaint straight to the one they have a problem with, this is after all one of the key reasons PM's were created.
If someone with a great deal of car, track and racing experience, and the inner confidence to state their mind, makes some uncomfortable, then clearly NE is not a place I want to be involved in.
For those of you who think they have won something here, I have something you should think about, the main objective should be to grow your community, and it seems this concept is passing over the heads of some. A real shame...

Although the posts in this thread can be considered childish, they were done that way for a reason, to have fun with a situation that felt tense to some people. My statement to you in the Teddy Kennedy thread was not meant to be funny and very straightforward IMO.
Like Bill stated, many people have been upset with always being told they are doing things wrong and what was described to me by some members as your "all knowing" attitude. I think several members (including myself) tried to drop polite hints here and there that maybe you were being a bit over bearing, however you either chose not to take notice or they went over your head.
There are many members on this board who would have never had the gumption to tell you that you eroded their experience on S2ki out of either embarrassment or fear of confrontation. Personally, I am a guy who wears my heart on my sleeve and held back as long as I could with the situation.
You obviously have knowledge on a WIDE range of topics. Some of that could be helpful if you learned how to speak to people in a way that is not "holier than thou" and didn't take it for granted that everyone always wants your help or to do it "Doug's way". I would venture a guess that 90-95% of members have no interest in taking their cars on a track, so half of your theories are useless to the majority on the board anyway.
I don't think anyone here is considering any type of victory for any reason. I do think that there are more than a handful of folks who will feel better not having to be "instructed" on a daily basis without asking for help. Having your brand of "help" around, would have the opposite effect of trying to grow our community. As any gardener will tell you: sometime you have to prune the thorns for the bush to grow.
Good day, sir
