What do you mean the PS3 doesn't play PS2 games? I know they removed the hardware emulation engine, but I thought it was replaced with software emulation.

Fortunately, I have the first generation PS3 with the hardware PS2 emulation and it works very well.

The new one they sell for $399 does not play PS2 games. The higher end model might but the one I have surely does not.

That's too bad I always thought that was a big selling point for the PS3.

See off topic thread about guy with CRX... we also had a somewhat lengthy discussion about GT He's only up to 4. He was trying to figure out a way to bring it to the Hemmings meet to show some of the old codgers!

Correct, sony only offers backwards compatibility with the 80 gig models. The 40 gig $399 does not play ps2 games.

I spend 40+ hrs./week on my X360. I'd owned every concole since the ColecoVision, except for a PS3, which I will buy that the arrival of GT5.

I have to say that, I love Forza2, it was a great game, until I'd play GT5 Prologue. GT5 was the bomb. especially with the Logitech G25 Wheel. It really sux that MS did not give Logitech the proper rights to make a wheel, cause they have their own, which also kinda sux.

Grid is supposed to be the next racing game to get for XBOX, so my research has shown.

Grid does nothing for me. From what I can tell, it's far more slanted toward the arcade side of things than the simulation side.
