actually everything looks good. Even if it was spun i really wouldn't care cuz the engine builder said he had one he would give me for $100. Sending the block out monday gunna just bore/hone it and replace rods, bearings, pistons (9:1 mahle), balance/blueprinting etc. $2000 for the full build including shipping.

Good news D ..
Here is my thought though . While this is the cheaper way out and lowers the compression to take care of your gasket issue . It still leaves you with delicate cylinder walls that can score easily, and also thinner cylinder walls .
If it was me I would have just simple Darton repair sleeves installed so you now have iron sleeves . You dont need to go crazy with full MID sleeves .But you will sleep better at night knowing a piece of carbon is not going to wipe out the cyl.

Sounds like our cylinder walls are made of rice paper! That sucks.

Next time you are up I will show you a block . They are only fiber reinforced aluminum .
The 2zz Toyota motor and the H22 honda are the same . But almost everything else is steel lined .

Derick may have to sleeve the block anyway due to possible excessive taper in the cylinder walls . The scratches he has are not bad... ive seen and run engines much worse than his and been fine .
