Can we then come up with a guideline on what Not to post?
This however is kinda stupid if you ask me. I realize that some posts like "hotties" can be taken offensivly to some members, which is to be expected. Though I don't think we should be deleating threads as we go along (kinda trial and error if you will) If there are rules, then those should be supported. As example, I try to stay away from threads that are involving politics (most of the time) and there were also others like immigration status thread which I remember from some time ago. I don't think that anyone is questioning the rules that Bill and Cubby are trying to enforce, but I also think that the community should speak as well, since we are all part of it. What brings me to this section, is a variety of posts and topics that are in majority rather interesting as well as to chat with my firends. Sure, I don't post a lot, but I try to stay active.

Welcome Bill!

And believe me, I put that whole parent/kids alalogy in there for a very specific reason, I know all to well what you speak about. It is not easy being the CO, many people just don't take the time to consider the other side of the fence before they speak, and some, honestly speaking, just don't have the ability to see the big picture. And no New Englanders, I'm not speaking about anyone specific, I'm just speaking about my experiences here over the past seven some years.

I've stayed relatively quiet on the CO discussion until now.

when I took my class in organizational behavior the professor described a particular type of interaction as the " I've got you now you SOB".
Basically the way it works is, the antagonist elicits an opinion, then regardless of the response can then take the opposite position.
There isn't a correct answer to the question becuase the objective of the question is not to get the answer but to get a response.
The antagonists carrot is the attention he derives from the response.

So Bill I believe you are correct, you will be damned if do and damned if you don't. So just do the right thing.

Honestly speaking, from my point of view, no, in fact, no, no, no!

The community forum should be a more fluid, open, fun kind of place for members to stop in and share good times and get to know more people. As soon as you start to develop a ton of specific rules I can tell you exactly what will happen to this community; it will start to die because the rules will have sucked the life right out of it.

Have have no problem with moderation for the community .

I just think we need to post up a Sticky on what is and is-not accepted in the NE section . I believe this will help keep threads like this to a minimum.

Because I know for one I am sick of reading all this bickering between good friends

We don't need to post a ton of rules of what we can and can't post. Common sense goes a long way, and I think we have TON of that around here.

As a former CO, I ask that you TRY to support your CO if he/she makes a decision, to move, edit, delete a thread. CO's work within the guidelines of the web site, but they are allowed to make decisions, those decisions can't and won't please everyone. That's just life.

All the Monday morning quarterbacking serves no purpose. Let's not continue to make a big deal out of this. It sucks the fun out of this place.

We have ran this site on Common sense for 8 years and now we have a problem

Like Bill says "damned if do and damned if you don't"

But I think if we had something set in stone than those that want to point everything out to our CO would be SOL .... because those are the rules of NE . Right now we are guessing on which to enforce and which not to enforce . We either follow ALL S2KI rules. Or we follow non unless we establish our own . I will see this as always being a problem .

I think in Bill's line of work it is called Reasonable Doubt . If we eliminate all Reasonable Doubt then there will be no issues . The rules will be the rules and thats that .

Well...I think you hit on something that is the crux of the situation....

I think a lot of friendships have dissovled/changed/weakened. There have been lots of things said and done that I would never do to a friend. Lets not kid ourselves....damage done.
