Default Ouch!

I tore tendons in my ankle and had them repaired, so I now have this:

so now this:

looks like this :

until who-knows-when. I'm on crutches for 3 months. Then 2-3 months later I need to do the other one. Good thing the pickup truck is an automatic.
(pardon the blurry pix. It's hard to hold steady on one crutch.)

I completely sympathise. I had an operation on my foot about 5 years ago. I was laid up for quite awhile and couldn't drive my car. It wasn't an S then, but it still stunk.

Thanks for the input. I have considerred most of these "creative driving techniques" (except the one from Steve). As I get more and more bored they may seem more and more viable. As it is, I'm driving the pick-up with my left foot. I wonder if that's legal if I get stopped?

Yep, torn tendons port and starboard. Both tore within about a year of each other, but the right was totally trashed, so I did that one first. The problem is my funky feet. My heels are too far inboard which makes my feet roll out a little every time I step down and stresses the outside tendons. Part of this procedure was repairing the torn tendon. The other part was sawing my heel off, displacing it a little to the right and then screwing it back on. That should let the tendons heel and stay attached. That's the part that hurts. It feels about like it sounds.

It's a sad thing. My daughter has the same feet. That's the problem with modern medicine. The gene that causes this should have been stopped long ago when my ancestors sprained an ankle running away from a sabre toothed tiger. Now it's just propogating. Good thing I only had one kid.

I usually run in the Manchester CT Thanksgiving Day road race. Obviously I'll miss this one. My goal is to run it in '06 on feet with performance mods.
