Right on topic.

Voted. I'm not an IT professional, but I've learned a few thing hanging around with those who are.

IT, no. I'm a software engineer. Not too fond of IT as I've worked it before.

I think there's a difference of terminology here... to me software engineers are "IT Professionals". However when people around the office generally refer to "IT", they mean the guys who manage the networks and server infrastructure all the way down to desktop support guys. Right now I perform support for a software product but I still consider myself as an IT Professional as I think that the scope is extremely broad to the point where.. if you're working in hardware, software or networking... you're an IT Professional, in which there are subsets of specialties like Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Support Engineers, Network Architects, etc...

I hate the term IT all together. You call yourself a Software Support I'll stick to Engineer. IT is played out IMO.

To me it's analogous to "Healthcare Professional". Anything from Doctors to Nurses to X-Ray techs. It's broad broad broad.
