Another of my faves, 3.0 CSL
Actually the guy that owns the Z8 owns the white 3.0 to the right of it. He's been restoring it for a few years.

IMHO that may be the best BMW ever made.
Beautiful cars the Z8, but there is an ongoing investigation into frames splitting in 2

Z8

There is a guy in Concord, MA who has (2) of them, a red and a blue one I believe. Each one has something like 24 miles on it. They're investment pieces I guess. He has them trucked in to a detailing shop I know of annually where this guy spends a solid week detailing every square inch of these cars, even going so far as to remove the wheels to detail the fender wells. Then when their done, they get trucked back to a garage where they are put on casters and rolled into position, each one has a BMW logo marked spot in his garage. Pretty crazy stuff.

That M1 is fantastic, the linky to that V12 with the stick, oh man I would absolutely love to own that car

Totally agreed!

And as far as I' concerned, BMW cannot ever make an ///M of the current 1 Series, calling that thing an M1 would just flat out be wrong. I could live with all the ///M tweaks but they would have to call it something like 1 Tii.

One of these is an M1, the other is clearly NOT!

I agree, the new 1 series reminds me more of a 2002 which I thought was it's original intent, but at only 200 lbs less than a 3-series, the newest 1 series seems like a waste of time and effort. I believe it's only 5 inches shorter than a 3 as well and is priced within 2000 dollars of a comparable 3-series.

So instead of a budget, lightweight race-ready 2002 for the 21st century, we end up with nothing more than a reincarnation of this

funny thing about screwing up a car that costs $120K.
The people who buy 'em have loads of money.
dropping 10K on a lawyer to pursue something like this is nothing to them.
not to mention as CEO's, VP's and directors, they've developed a habit of getting there way.

I am a huge BMW fan, and it saddens me to say this, but you sir are 100% right...

I was so hoping the 1 Series could take a real aggressive step towards lightweight, but alas, that sure as heck did not come true. I just can't believe so many car companies are just not getting it, in fact, if it were not for Lotus I don't think we would have any 2,000 pound toys.

There always the ariel atom...

which would be an awesome car if they priced it in the 40's not nearing a $100K like they are.

Nope, I love too much to run in the rain, and if I had that at school and it was raining I would stay in the garage...

All kidding aside, this could very well be my next track car. Bought used, stripped of interior and weight, cage added, and maybe even a supercharger.

It would look good behind the Titan.
