Purgatory Chasm
Anyone ever been to Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, MA?
It's a neat place.
Here's a pic from the internet.
Here are a couple pics I took there.
Yesterday, while in the Newport, RI/Middletown area, we saw a sign that said Purgatory Chasm, so we checked it out.
Here's what we found.
I guess it's a chasm....thought not quite as dramatic.

Looks like a pit with a bunch of rocks
Both places meet the definition of chasm: noun
1. a yawning fissure or deep cleft in the earth's surface; gorge.
2. a breach or wide fissure in a wall or other structure.
The one in RI was a bit less dramatic.

Could have gone the rest of my life without viewing that particular chasm.

Yup! I'm 5 minutes away. Neat place....pictures don;t do it justice.
Actually, it is worth the trip. Neat place to walk around, though it is not exactly even terrain, picnic tables,
We heard about it on Channel 4 as one of those "day trips on one tank of gas".
