Default Question

Can a male and female be friends, even if one of them is married and their significant other doesn't like the other person _ mind you he/she hasnt meet the person to even give that person a chance, and has no reason NOT to like the person...would that be jealousy, or insecurity or what??

I think what you are describing is jealousy AND insecurity, with a probable underlying psychological issue. Let me translate: the person you're describing is nuts.

How the heck can anyone not like someone they've never met?

Probably not. I've tried to make this happen a bunch of times and managed to fail miserably each and every time. Everything seems to work ok if your significant other is comfortable with the other person, but if they're not, no amount of reasoning with then will keep you from getting in trouble.

Married guys have a hard time having single female friends. For most, it isn't worth the hassle.

It rarely works without complication... Unless both husband and wife are friendly.

Cases where 2 people are longtime friends before a new love interest arrives has a shot.

I dont think my wife would be too excited if I kicked off a strong friendship with a woman and exchanged gifts on holidays. Valentines Day goifts would be a huge no no.

I agree with Bill, not worth the hassel. Most of my women friends are... umm, I dont have any women friends... Just aquaintences.
