BTW, some guys like the fact that top down hinders conversation......or so I've heard.

Well, doesn't sound like much conversation when you arrive at the destination, so why bother with conversation on the trip to the destination?
Take the S next time. Enjoy the ride. Skip the conversation, unless it's with your girlfriend.
