The wiper transmission for my car has metal rods with plastic caps that clip over metal balls to move the wipers. One of the plastic caps was worn to the point that it wouldn't clip on the ball and just popped off. The correct solution was just to buy a new rod with new plastic caps and clip it on. My solution was to take the linkage out with the metal balls on it and drill and tap the ball. I then drilled a hole in the worn plastic cap on the rod. After that I just used a small bolt with some thread locker and a washer to keep the assembly together and still move freely. As long as the bolt doesn't loosen, I should be all set. We'll see what happens. My plan is to replace the G20 shorty, so it doesn't really have to work forever.

Well, the easy fix is to drill a drain hole, then get a plug....

It's actually the same solution used now with car doors and sunroofs. The old theory was to use tight weather seals and gaskets to keep rain out. Now they're designed to let some water in, and gravity-drain back out elsewhere.

So it's not totally redneck...

Well, that's the more difficult route... but it's your choice.

"Kids, there's 3 ways to do things. The right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way!"

"Isn't that the wrong way?"

"Yeah, but faster!"
