Based on your price range, I would get the 335i. The other cars mentioned above are not in the same class at all. The 335i has performance that is very near to the last M3 while being very comfortable and loaded with features. I would wait a few more months or even a year to make sure they get all the bugs out as it is a new engine (with turbos!) and will probably need some time to be sorted out.
I agree.. not that i'm biased or anything.

At almost 40k it would be a BMW 335i or Volvo S60 R for me.

So many choices, depends on your needs. For me a TL is tough to beat for the cake. Although I think I would go Georges route and go for the TSX.

Somehow I knew they would cheap out on the interior... again.

The suedelike inserts in the seat upholstery unfortunately are a feature only of the concept car

Unfortunately the concept car's suede upholstery for the dashboard and door panels won't make it to the assembly line.

they spent all their money on the engine and tranny. nothing left for the interior, unless you want to pay 10k more

I really wish they'd make that with only two doors.

Shouldn't cost 10K to have a semi-decent interior. It should be at least be on par with Civic/Corolla interior in terms of material quality.
