replacement for my son's mazda?
I am looking at a 1996 Integra LS 5speed with 82,000 miles on it for my son. (he has blown the head gasket on the 91 MX-6 with a mere 140,000 miles on it). What do all of you think of the Integra as a suitable replacement. I think it is pricey, but people say they are worth it. The guy wants $4,700 for the thing.
Well, the newer teg is a nice upgrade, Bill... Boy, there are many choices for a reasonable 9-10yr old car... If you're inclined to go with Honda/Acura, how about a Prelude of same generation? Perhaps a decked out Civic, even newer for similar price?
Good luck!

Bill just replace the Head Gasket and tell him to baby that sucker this time. I am sure someone up that way can help you switch out that gasket pretty quickly, unless he ruined the head.
I would stay away from older Acuras not because of reliability problems but because of parts cost. They are much more expensive then regular hondas. A 94~96 Prelude is something to consider but be aware that the back seats can't fit anyone. A civic is a good gas/commuter type car but no power, which might be a good thing. An Accord is probably the best alternative. Coupes are bit harder to find but 4drs are every where.
Good luck in your search!

I would go for Prelude. Prelude is fast, reliable and cool looking. At least to me. Get one of those 1993 VTEC or 4WS ones. They are sweet!

the 1995 Prelude Vtec is the fastest prelude ever made. They can be picked up rather cheap. (Under 5k)
They are little better than the integra from a classy perspective and I beat the crap out of mine and never had one single problem.
