Hi All:

Just an autocross update... At the BMWCCA June 3rd autocross at Ft Devens yesterday, S2000's placed 1st and second in terms of fastest times in our group (under 2 liter, street tires). The PAX'ed results are not available yet (those will be close) as those will be more of a driver measure - but at least as far as the car goes, it did well.

The most amazing thing was that my first run of the day (my only clean run) was done in the wet and it was faster than my best dry time in April when we ran the alsmost the same configuration. I even surprised myself! But I think that may have had something to do with the practice I got on Saturday in a totally drenched BMW White Mountain Chapter Autocross event at NHIS where there were only about 6 cars. We got in dozens of laps in the wet. All I can say is the the S2000 with OEM tires is great in the wet - still very controllable and provides lots of feedback. Just make sure you do not end up with on rear tire in a deep puddle with the other on just wet pavement - that happened once at the NHIS event and at about 40mph, I spun faster than I had time to even react!

Next time, we need more S2000's to show up AND DRIVE! We need more buffer (to fill the 3rd, 4th, 5th etc places after Aaron and myself) from the others in the group.

I'll post a link to the final results when they become available.

Francis/Aaron,
Congrats on the 1-2 finishes! Did you guys get any rain yesterday (where I was, it only showered around 7 p.m.).

Francis,
I have to tell you, I felt more g's (as your passenger) in Saturday' event at NHIS on the rain drenched track than I did at the first Ft Devens event on the dry roads, so you are definitely improving your lap times!

Aaron,
How did the new car (white - MY '00) compare to your old one (yellow - MY '01)? Is the new one noticably faster on the track/street?

Wish I could have made it yesterday to watch you guys, but I ended up driving to Providence to drop off Derrick's Helmet, then spent the rest of the day with Tina, so I still had fun

I was praying for rain at the event but except for it misting lightly in our first session and some light drizzle in the afternoon, it got drier as the day progressed. We were done just before the actual rains came.

Dana: Go with Glenn to get a helmet! At the very least, you'll get more rides that way.

I'd be glad to take you as a passenger - I've found that I go faster with a passenger. The S2000 has power to spare for the autocrosses.
