Saw Batman
Definately great movie and I think it lives up to the hype. I admit the bar has been set extremely high because of Heath Ledger's death. His performance was great but I don't see Oscar winning performance.
All througout the movie, all I kept thinking was "damn the Joker is crazy" how will they ever end this movie and tie everything up.
Saw it on IMAX and that experience was pretty insane on it's own

Jeff, there's no longer a line if you go see it during weekday. I know b/c we went to see it for the second time yesterday. Imax is still sold out though.
I saw it on Imax last Friday. I was a little bummed out b/c I didn't get such good seat despite being there an hour early to get in line. As I said though the acoustic in Imax is amazing. Sound is crystal clear and fills the room. Seats would rumble as if they had shaker mounted underneath them. As a sound guy yourself I know you will appreciate this stuff.
The movie is very fast paced. Every dialogue is essential (and interesting) to the story. If you miss a sentence here or there you'll find yourself asking WTF later on. Watching it the second time helps me tie the whole thing together (yeh, I am kinda slow). There's no cheesy one-liner like the first four Batman movies before Chris Nolan took over.
I thought Heath's acting is Oscar worthy. The Joker character has so many dimensions: creepy yet funny; crazy yet calculating; tormented yet embracive of his past. It's a joy just watching the character to see what kind of unexpected thing he would do next. He's so convincing you'd forget it's an actor behind the character. Who knows... maybe preparing and doing this role really F'ed him up and led to the medication overdose
